Before use
Before using this unit, please read this manual thoroughly and retain it for future reference. See also the manuals provided with your notebook for more information about connecting the notebook and the docking station. The VGP-HDBX08A is an 80GB HDD Bay Unit designed for Sony notebooks and docking stations. However, it may not be compatible with some models. Note This unit does not support security functions. As a result, a hard disk password set on the notebook will not function with it.

On cleaning
Clean the unit with a soft dry cloth or a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use any type of solvent, such as alcohol or benzine, which may damage the finish.

Handling the hard disk
This unit contains a built-in hard disk (a recording device for storing applications and data). If the hard disk should malfunction for some reason, it is not possible to recover the data stored on it. Therefore, to prevent the loss of your recorded data, make sure to handle the hard disk as follows: � Do not subject to shocks. � Do not use in locations subject to instability or heavy vibration. � Do not move the unit while the power is turned on. � Do not shutdown or restart the computer while reading or writing data on the drive. Do not use in locations subject to severe temperature shifts (50°F (10°C) or more per hour). � Keep magnetic devices, such as TVs, speakers, magnets, and magnetic bracelets, away from the unit. � Do not remove the hard disk drive.
